Dr Kailas Kassan

Dr Kailas Kassan holds a Bachelor of Social Science Degree from the University of Cape Town, as well as a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Psychology from the University of the Western Cape. In 1996, she completed her Master of Science in Community Agency Counseling at Auburn University in the United States, after which she went on to complete her Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision in 1999.

Since completing her studies, Dr Kassan has worked as a fieldworker, career counsellor, trauma counsellor and programme coordinator at various NGOs, and has also been involved in corporate coaching and development. She has operated her own private practice, and has also taught in schools and lectured in tertiary education, both locally and abroad.

Dr Kassan describes herself as a facilitator of personal growth and transformation. She uses her understanding of the psychology of human beings, together with her knowledge and experience of different work environments, to help individuals and groups make significant and lasting changes in ways that are most meaningful and appropriate for their particular situation. Dr Kassan is curious about each and every person she encounters, and looks forward to partnering with them on their journey toward living more authentically, and toward finding meaning and purpose in their lives, as they address the challenges they face. Dr Kassan is passionate about the role she plays in assisting clients deal with emotional problems.

Having  worked in a number of diverse environments, including academia, the public and private sectors and in private practice, Dr Kassan’s personal motivation has always been to refine her own skills, so as to be better equipped to enable others’ growth and development.
